The lecture covers the fascinating cultural mix in Jerusalem. It is a city of Jews, Arabs, Hassidic sects, Armenians and Christians. It deals with the symbols of Jerusalem, from religious symbols such as the Western Wall to the social fabric of Jerusalem at Mahane Yehuda market and the ultra-Orthodox enclave of Mea Shearim. It also discusses important events in Jerusalem's most recent history; from riots and terrorist attacks, to the visit of the Pope to politically charged events such as Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount on the eve of the Second Intifada.
